Can Mightier help kids with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)?
Children with ASD often display emotional regulation challenges. Symptoms may include aggression, disruptive behaviors, irritability, anger, or anxiety. Mightier can help with these symptoms. Our randomized controlled trials of our fundamental technology showed improvement in aggression and disruptive behaviors. We also saw improvement in emotional regulation. Children with ASD participated in the research, though their numbers were small such that we cannot make generalizations. However, individual children have succeeded without technology. One such story is here.
We encourage all families to work with a treatment team. The first step is to talk with your doctor.
Can Mightier help kids with Anxiety?
Children with anxiety also often display symptoms of emotional dysregulation, including anger, aggression, and disruptive behaviors. They might also be fearful, frightened and experience physical responses such as elevated heart rate and rapid shallow breathing. In our clinical trials, we’ve seen improvements in these symptoms. Not enough children with anxiety diagnoses enrolled in our early research projects such that we can make generalizations. Many families using Mightier have children grappling with anxiety challenges and have found benefit from Mightier.
Can Mightier help kids with ADHD?
Children with ADHD often display challenges with emotional regulation, including anger, aggression, and disruptive behaviors. Our trials enrolled many children with ADHD. Our results showed symptomatic improvement of aggression and disruptive behaviors, in addition to a lowering of family stress. In addition, several children with ADHD demonstrate physiological responses such as difficulty sitting still and regulating their breathing and bodies. Many families using Mightier have children with ADHD and have noticed changes in these physical responses.
Can Mightier help kids with Depression?
We do not have any evidence that Mightier can help children with depression. If depression is leading to symptoms of emotional dysregulation, including anger, aggression, or disruptive behaviors, then Mightier may be able to help.
